Eight Hotels Italian Riviera

A Riviera Retreat Between Pine Forests and the Sea - Cradled between the emerald hills of Liguria and the crystalline waters of the Tigullio Gulf, Eight Hotels Portofino and Paraggi exist in quiet conversation with their surroundings. One, tucked among the maritime pines above the harbor; the other, poised directly on Paraggi’s fabled bay—the only sandy beach on this stretch of the Italian Riviera. Together, they form a duet of refined seclusion, where luxury is not declared but felt, like the scent of salt in the morning air or the hush of waves beneath moonlight.

Here, time slows, and beauty takes the form of stillness, shadow, and salt-spray.

Architecture: Ligurian Spirit, Reimagined

The Portofino property hides in plain sight—its façade a whisper of traditional ligurian tones, ochre and coral, softened by ivy and light. Inside, silence is sculpted by arched windows, stone staircases, and cool, terracotta-tiled corridors. The design resists spectacle: natural oak, woven fabrics, and pale marble meet the curves of vaulted ceilings and the geometry of coastal minimalism.

At Paraggi, the architecture leans closer to the sea. A reimagined 19th-century villa, painted the color of seashells and surf, rises just above the tide line. Wide terraces, shaded in linen and bamboo, spill directly onto the sand. Here, each window is a frame for blue—sea, sky, horizon—while the interiors nod to nautical tradition in clean teak lines and sun-bleached textures.

Suites: Sunlight, Texture, and Quiet Views

No two rooms are alike, and none feel like hotel rooms. At Portofino, suites are soft-spoken sanctuaries—wrapped in cream and olive tones, punctuated by hand-finished brass, silk throws, and curated vintage details. Balconies open onto the forest, or over terracotta rooftops to the glinting marina below.

At Paraggi, the rooms speak in sea tones: white, driftwood, and marine blue. Some offer private terraces with outdoor jacuzzis. Others dissolve the line between room and beach—just a few steps from bed to barefoot sand. The rhythm here is one of gentle tides and late-morning sun.

The Beach at Paraggi: Where the Riviera Touches Stillness

Paraggi is not merely a backdrop—it is the soul of the experience. In a region known for rocky cliffs and pebbled shores, this crescent of soft sand is a rarity. Eight Hotels has curated the beach with the same refined restraint as its interiors: elegant white sunbeds, teak cabanas, a barefoot bar serving chilled Ligurian Vermentino and citrus-laced crudo.

The beach club is intimate and uncrowded. In the early hours, it feels almost private—just the rustle of palms and the rhythm of the surf. By afternoon, a gentle hum of conversation floats over clinking glasses and sea breeze. At dusk, it becomes a sanctuary again, as lanterns glow and the sea turns silver.

Dining: Ligurian Earth, Sea, and Fire

At the heart of both hotels is a culinary ethos rooted in place. The Eight Restaurant - with its veranda in Paraggi - offers cuisine that is both restrained and evocative. Raw langoustines kissed with lemon blossom; handmade trofie tossed with basil from the hills behind; slow-cooked fish over fire, seasoned with the memory of salt wind and... GOURMET PIZZA!

Meals are unhurried. Often served just above the shoreline, they unfold like quiet rituals - anchored in simplicity, flavor, and the changing light.

A Riviera That Whispers

Eight Hotels do not announce themselves. They unfold slowly - like the scent of citrus in the shade, or the hush that falls when the last boat leaves the harbor. They are spaces not just to stay, but to dwell: to watch the light change across water, to listen to the wind move through pine, to relearn the rhythm of enough.

This is not the Riviera of spectacle. It is the Riviera of stillness, elegance, and elemental beauty - rediscovered.
